At Group Advisors, Inc. we have over 70 years of combined experience in the health insurance field. Each of us understands that our agency's success is completely dependent on the successes of each of our individual clients. We are not a mass-marketing business. We are accessible and responsive advocates for you because your business is important to us. We represent your interests and will locate the best value for your dollar. Incidentally, the price you pay for coverage is the same whether you work with us or work directly with the insurance company.
It is our view that health insurance can be very complicated, particularly if one has not had much experience buying it or using it. We can attest to the fact that it can be challenging to the layperson. We have developed a system that assists you with the purchase decision, simplifies the application process, helps explain contract language and provides the confidence needed to make informed decisions about a very personal and important matter.
As you may be aware, there are many insurance companies offering products to the public, and some are better than others. It is our philosophy that representing fewer insurance companies is better than representing most or all of them. Here’s why: representing fewer insurance companies gives us an edge in knowing the companies’ products and services inside and out so we can match our clients’ needs with the appropriate policy. Representing fewer insurance companies allows us to develop closer working relationships with them. This helps us to resolve issues, if any, more quickly and more favorably for our clients. We represent only two insurance companies in each of our markets. We base our selection on the insurance company’s financial strength and stability, the breadth of products and services offered, economic value, and quality of products and services. We work with companies that have demonstrated ethical and moral behavior with their insured and are committed to their health and well being.
We will use the information you provide to conduct a search among the dozens of plans that provide the coverage you are looking for. We will immediately e-mail you the best results. Simultaneously, our system will mail you a comprehensive hard copy backup.
A dedicated Customer Service Representative will be assigned to you, and is available to answer your questions by e-mail or telephone. Our website can provide additional information to help you in the decision making and application process.
How the Process Works: Once you have selected an insurance carrier your application must be submitted for underwriting. Our staff will review your application for completion accuracy (if sent by mail) and follow up with you by phone or e-mail to complete any missing items. Once completed, the application is sent to the underwriting department for review, and the process can take up to six weeks for a decision. If you apply on-line, your application will be sent directly to underwriting, and it will be processed within one week. We strongly encourage on-line application, and this can be accomplished by clicking on the appropriate carrier link shown on our home page.
There are only four possible results of the application and underwriting process:
- Issued as applied for:Your application was approved at the price quoted with no waivers or restrictions other than those allowed by statute (e.g. pre-existing condition waiver)
- Issued with price rate up and/or waivers (Certain Carriers Apply):Your contract was issued at a higher price than the original quote and may have additional waivers and/or restrictions. This is usually the result of pre-existing medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, exceeding height/weight limits, hypertension, etc.)
- Issued at a higher underwriting level (Certain Carriers Apply): Your contract was at a more expensive (i.e. higher premium) rate without condition waivers. The following underwriting levels apply:
- Postponed:The insurance carrier takes this action when it is unable to obtain needed information in a timely manner. Your application will not be processed until a complete application is received and/or additional requested information is received. The best defense against postponement is to apply on-line.
- Declination:With most insurance carriers this action is the exception to the rule (approximately 75% of all applications are approved) and will only be taken when the information it receives will not allow it to insure the risk.
Our experienced staff will continue to assist you no matter what the outcome! If your policy is issued other "than applied for" there are many steps that can be taken to achieve the best possible results. We guarantee to do everything possible to get the best overall results for you and your family.
Service: We have selected only the best carriers in your market for value and service. While no one is perfect, we believe our carriers are the class of the league. However, if a situation arises where you need help with understanding your policy or dealing with a claim situation, we are your advocates. We continue to provide service to you long after your policy is issued. You deal with us and we deal with the insurance carrier! If at any time the carrier is no longer able to serve your needs we will begin the search process again. You are our client!
